After losing two straight games to the Clippers, Gasol helped Memphis stave off elimination with a 23 point, seven rebound, four assist effort, giving the Grizzlies a 92-80 victory in Game 5 of its Western Conference first round series.

Anibal Sanchez (2-0) threw a seven-hit, one-run gem, Hanley Ramirez drove in two runs, and the Miami Marlins completed a three-game sweep of the San Francisco Giants, winning 3-2 Thursday afternoon. It was a much needed three-game streak after the Marlins (11-14) recent struggles, in which they dropped eight of their last nine games before sweeping the Giants.
